Susan Hannah Hadary, the director of MedSchool Maryland Productions and Video Press, is the winner of an Oscar®, a Peabody Award and numerous Emmy awards. She has produced three HBO documentaries and has been the supervising producer and writer for over 30 programs commissioned by Discovery. Her early documentaries were offered nationally by public television stations.
Her documentaries for HBO are the Oscar® winning King Gimp, Bong and Donnell, and Love, Josh. These programs, along with many others produced by Hadary, including Grace, Marge and Walter, and Dr. Garrett, focus on the strength of the human spirit. These documentaries bring to the screen ordinary people who have exceptional life circumstances and capture the journey of life over many months and even many years.
Her series for Discovery feature the lives of medical school students and the life and death world of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. They include six episodes of Critical Incident, six episodes of Med School and sixteen episodes of Critical Hour.
In addition to producing in the traditional documentary format, Hadary has recently branched out to develop web-based video programming. Her project for the Abell Foundation, featured teens of Baltimore in a special violence prevention digital campaign, www.bettermyworld.org. In 2008, she was selected by the Lasker Foundation to profile their prestigious award winners and contributed to the HBO Alzheimer’s special which airs in 2009.
Hadary’s documentaries have been reviewed in numerous publications including the Associated Press, The New York Times, The Baltimore Sun, The Washington Post, Variety, USAToday, and the Hollywood Reporter. She has been interviewed on Good Morning America, Weekend Today and has appeared on numerous news and radio shows.
